Incense Kyoto EDT is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, crystal clear incense perfume There's a scene in one of the 'Twilight' films where the super-human male protagonist fly/runs his girlfriend up to the top of a huge old cedar tree to look at the cold and spectacular view from the top. As far as the camera pans, there are green cedars, snow caps and sky. Kyoto smells like this. Cool wisps of incense mixed with sappy green trees and something nutty or toasty (but only a bit) to remind you of home. While Ginsberg is God by Bella Freud is still my favourite-upon-favourite incense perfume, Kyoto rocks my world quite a bit too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meditative Scent This is the quietest and most wearable of the CdG Incense series, in my opinion. Although it is understated compared to Avignon, it starts with a blast of spices and incense that reminds me of the opening of Avignon. Once the fragrance settles down, it achieves a soothing, almost meditative quality. I bought this because I wanted something similar to the Tokyo exclusive scent from Le Labo. This is similar, but lacks the projection and depth of Le Labo. This is twice as cheap as Le Labo, though -- so I guess I can't really complain. Like most fragrances from the Incense sereis, this fragrance layers well. I love layering it with Molecule 01 from Escentric Molecules.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply sublime, truly unisex Comme des Garcon's Incence range exists in some olfactory space outside frangrance fashion. Ouds and leathers and vanillas may come and go, but there's an inexhaustible and timeless purity in Kyoto and in my other favourite in the series, Avignon. Technically, they are lovely achievements. On my skin at least, they never go through an unfortunate stage on the dry down, when they go from being complex to thin or sweet. No wonder, since the nose behind both is Bertrand Duchafour, who also concocted Cinnamon, Peppermint and the divine, delicate and surprisingly un-weird Rhubarb in Comme series 5 - all stocked by Mecca. He's also the nose behind many of the lovely, spacious scents in the Eau D'Italie range, also available at Mecca. So enjoy Kyoto solely for the calm it offers, or use it as a stepping off point into a hugely enjoyable journey of discovery, where the hallmarks and signatures of a master perfumer will reveal themselves to you.
