My position:

As a Store Host at MECCA Cosmetica Myer Sydney, the main responsibilities of my role are to ensure that our customers' needs and desires are met and they've had the ultimate ‘’MECCA’’ experience! As the first point of contact I always aim to surprise and delight our customers by going above and beyond the standard service and making sure that they’re able to discover the best in beauty, skincare, fragrance and lifestyle trends and products.

My journey:

As a long-term shopper at MECCA (since I was in high school and my first purchase was the NARS Blush in Lovejoy), I loved the incredible service I was treated to, so it only made sense that I worked for MECCA to deliver that same experience to other customers. I submitted my application online and was called up by the MECCA Cosmetica Regional Sales Manager to come in for an interview and the rest is history. While I’ve only been with the company for around 6 months I can see myself building a long-term career here. I’m also pursuing further studies with the internal Graduate Program that MECCA offers in mind, and I’m lucky enough to say that the business has been nothing short of supportive in helping me fulfil my MECCA journey.

My department:

The Retail department could be said to be the ‘’face’’ of the business in that we interact most with customers on a day to day basis. We’re responsible for representing the core MECCA values both individually and as a team to contribute to the business’ thriving culture and success. The retail department functions as a very large team to liaise with other departments in the business in order to bring everything together in ’the big picture’.

What I love most about working with Mecca Brands:

First and foremost my team! Working at MECCA Cosmetica Myer Sydney (one of the busiest stores in the business) certainly has its share of challenges but also brings plenty of advantages, including my amazing team of 55+ beauty obsessed employees! We’re an amazing group and work incredibly well together in a dynamic environment to ensure the needs of the business are met. Besides my team I also really enjoy MECCA’s dedication to employees’ personal development, particularly the business’ flexibility in extending opportunities for further career development within the company and the Education department that lets us expand our knowledge and skillset

What does work-life balance mean to you, and how do you achieve this balance:

Work life balance is incredibly important to me in that it allows a person to truly be the best that they can be in all areas of life ‐ both professionally and personally. Having always been a beauty junkie I’m lucky enough to call my job my hobby, so I can truly say I enjoy my work. However, in order to make time and space for other demands such as university studies and spending time with friends and family, I’ve had the support from my Manager to have a suitable work schedule in order to achieve this balance which I think is key to personal success and happiness.

Always embrace opportunities that come your way! MECCA is a very fast paced business so take advantage of that and go to as many training sessions as you can – they’re only going to benefit you (and your customers!) Be able to identify with and represent MECCA’s values because our culture is one of the most important things to us and we want you to be a part of that!
