My position:

I am currently the Assistant Store Manager at MECCA Cosmetica, Burnside. I like to think of my role as that of an orchestra conductor; you ensure that all the members of the team are in harmony and that the daily running of the store is in tune. The focus of my day consists of coaching and developing the team, and sharing our gorgeous products with our customers. It can also involve a variety of tasks from delivering staff feedback, to inventory management, to setting up and maintaining store visual displays.

My journey:

Having been a loyal (and slightly obsessed) MECCA customer for years, I was fortunate to join MECCA Cosmetica, Burnside in November 2014 as Summer Host. At the end of my contract in February 2015, I accepted the full-time role of Assistant Store Manager at MECCA Cosmetica Myer Adelaide. In October 2015, I transferred to Adelaide City to temporarily relieve the Store Manager and then resumed Assistant Store Manager my role once again. I have now come full circle by not only returning to Burnside in February of this year and working with my original Store Manager, but also going back to study as I complete an online Diploma of Human Resource Management to further my skillset and capabilities. I believe I am the only person to have now worked in all 3 stores in SA!

My department:

We currently have a team of 15 amazing women which includes 2 skin specialists and 2 colour specialists. Our team plays a vital role in the success of MECCA. We need to share our product knowledge and actively listen to our customers, to ensure that we provide the best service possible. All of the other roles within MECCA would be in vain without our loyal customers continuing to support us instore.

What I love most about working with Mecca Brands:

I am fortunate enough to work with fabulous women, build rapport and serve our wonderful customers and am able to use the most luxurious beauty products available – what’s not to love?!! Oh, did I mention the amazing discount?

What does work-life balance mean to you, and how do you achieve this balance:

I have always been someone that “works to live and not lives to work”, so I truly value spending quality time with the people that make my heart sing! I prefer to contribute 150% when I am at work, so that I can put my phone on silent and create treasured memories!

Make sure you are prepared to work hard! Everything is about the customer! Stay focussed! Constantly believe in yourself and your abilities Challenge yourself; I live by the saying, “If not me, then who? If not now, then when?” Always keep listening, learning and having fun!
