Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best I've tried yet! I originally purchased a sample size tube of this because I had tried so many sunscreens that just didn't meet my expectations or didn't play well with my serums, moisturisers, primers or foundation, so I wanted to test it before committing to a full size tube. I loved it and have since purchased the full size. This does not have a strong chemical sunscreen smell, it does not give a white cast, even with flash photography, it does not feel oily or greasy, it does not react with any of my other face products, it does not pill... EVER!! Simply the best sunscreen I've ever tried AND it has some pretty darn reasonable moisturisation as well. 10/10 Mecca!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for my sensitive skin :( Wanted to love this after reading so many positive reviews from those with sensitive skin. Unfortunately didn't work with my sensitive skin and my face is now covered in an allergic rash. So while it may work for some people with sensitive skin .... it's back to physical sunscreens for me :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great under makeup I've never used a sunscreen before that actually makes your skin makeup go on BETTER. Usually, sunscreen is that additional layer of liability in applying your makeup-like, I'd rather not use any sunscreen under my makeup if I can get away with it, and/or it's for a special event. This one's different. Not only does this work fantastically on its own, matte and light on the skin, but it seems to actually prime and prep the face and makes my foundation go on more smoothly. WHAT IS THIS BLACK MAGIC One star off because it breaks me out if I leave it on for more than 8 hours per day, but otherwise, the best sunscreen I've ever used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great facial sunscreen I require proper sunscreen protection because I'm using retinol products. It goes over the top of my serum and moisturizer and under my makeup. Works brilliantly between layers. No stickiness and makeup stays put. My skin used to be really oily and I was concerned I'd end up with pimples but there's been no problem. I'm very happy with it and recently bought a second tube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this sunscreen I've been using this product daily since I bought it - provides good SPF without causing breakouts and greasiness through the t-zone. Make up stays put too, doesn't slide off. Perfect for everything from work to events like weddings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Daily Moisturiser I had been using the SPF 50 version of this but I decided to try the original version because it had better reviews and it's cheaper ($38/100mL vs $40/75mL). I was a little worried when I first used it because it actually looks like a sunscreen (it's white in colour as opposed to the SPF 50 which is more of a beige colour) but it goes on like a moisturiser. I generally used this over a face oil but found it was hydrating enough to use on its own. Because it's a slightly thinner consistency than the SPF I also found I used less and 100mL lasted me at least 4 months, using it everyday. As I am really fair skinned I used this over Autumn/Winter and had no issues with sunburn, however for Spring/Summer I will probably go back to the SPF 50. This will remain my Autumn/Winter staple moisturiser though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HG sunscreen I tried this sunscreen when it first launched many years ago and since have bounced around using different branded moisturisers/sunscreens. I only recently decided to give it another go as I only remembered good things about it...boy was I so pleasantly surprised to learn that they haven't changed the formulation (even smells the same) and the moisturising/sun protective factors are even better (if that is possible!) it goes on so lightweight, feels so smooth with or without makeup (and is a great base for makeup). My combination/oily skin does mean I may need to reach for blotting papers at the end of the day but so far has not broken me out like other sunscreens. So glad I decided to return to this little gem, I've found my true HG sunscreen/moisturiser.

Can this be used on its own without a moisturiser underneath? I have normal/combination skin.

I use this just over face oil. I find it's hydrating enough to use alone :)

Is this a chemical or physical sunscreen? Thanks!

Asked by: katelynmaree11
To Save Face 30+ is a chemical sunscreen - for physical sunscreens, look for ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Physical sunscreens actually deflect the sun's rays, which is amazing, but which sometimes can result in a white cast or 'flash back' with flash photography. Physical sunscreens can also cause breakouts in oily or acne prone skin. Keep in mind that titanium dioxide does not protect against all UVA rays - zinc oxide protects against UVA and UVB. Chemical sunscreens absorb into the skin and neutralise the sun's rays before they can do their damage - this can sometimes cause allergic reactions or sensitivity in some skin types. However, chemical sunscreens are generally (and To Save Face definitely is!) broad spectrum, and do not leave a white cast, but you will need to wait at least 20 minutes before you expose yourself to any sunlight after applying. I mainly wanted a primer that has SPF but can I use this to replace my primer?
