I always double cleanse at night because I just love that fresh feeling of being clean. The only way I can find the time is while I’m bathing my son so it’s become our evening cleansing ritual. I put him in the bath and cleanse my face twice before using my Goldfaden Doctor’s Scrub or a clay mask and let it dry while I’m washing him. Then I jump in the shower and wash it all off while he plays at my feet. That’s technically triple cleansing—which is probably too much for my skin—but I just love that clean-pore feeling. After that, I use Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream to moisturise."

ON BEING A TRUE GEMINI:

"When I’m working in my studio, I have to strip myself of makeup and jewellery and put my hair up in a bun before I can get started - it’s a need to not have any distractions. I’m a true Gemini in that sense of being a split personality; so while I love being an au-natural slob at home, when I go out or when I’m live illustrating at an event I love embracing that girly side of myself and looking beautiful. If I’m doing my own makeup I tend to wear mascara, brown eyeliner, and layer two shades of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar Cream Eyeshadows. And a lip - my new favourite find is NARS Velvet Matte Pencil in Cruella.

"I’m a true Gemini in that sense of being a split personality."

When I came home from illustrating at the Mecca Cosmetica event and I’d had my makeup done, my husband James was quite amazed to see me all done up. We’ve been together since we were 16 but I think ultimately, he prefers me without makeup; I don’t know whether that’s because he’s just being nice as that’s generally my normal state – or, like most men, he probably doesn’t know that natural actually requires a bit of makeup!"

ON SHIFTING PRIORITIES:

"My hair has definitely fallen off my list of priorities since having a child. Sam used to pull it when he was a baby so I started wearing it in a bun always. Now it’s such a habit I’ve gotten into and is probably why I’ve slackened off on having nice-looking hair. I don’t even own a hairdryer or any styling tools or products—other than a can of hair spray that I use when I go out, just to make my bun look a little neater!"

ON HER SIGNATURE SCENT:

"I tend to stick with fragrance for years and I never own more than two at a time. If I’m wearing a new scent it’s all I can smell and I find it really distracting. I like the scents that I wear to be part of my skin and I become almost unaware of the fragrance, it just becomes 'me'. I love Byredo Gypsy Water and spritz it onto my neck and use my wrists to warm the scent onto my skin before I go out. Such a simple but feminine finishing touch."
